For Leigh
When my sister was here last weekend we were talking about the fact that I needed to change the colour of my living room because the beige walls and burgundy curtains just didn't work with my red cushions and ornaments. We decided that I needed something that combined the beige and burgundy with a brighter colour.
On the day they were leaving I took them down to Temuka Pottery - as that's what Temuka is famous for. There, on the wall in the coffee shop, was this artwork. I fell instantly in love, kept being drawn back to it, and in the end blew the budget to buy it.
I've always been drawn to 'naked' trees and the trunks and branches of silver birches - which these are very reminiscent of.
I hung it tonight and it's just right! It's 1.5 metres wide so is the perfect length to hang on the fireplace wall.
Now I get to go and buy new cushions and other accents :-) Looks like they will have to be a combination of burgundy, jade and gold.
Stupid really when I consider how rarely I sit in the living room!
