Catching The wave

South Africa supporters at Coventry, dancing and ululating, despite their team being overwhelmed by a very sharp and powerful Sweden. The goal of the match came from SA's Portia Modise, scored from the centre circle.
The South Africans were joined by the kids at the front who soon joined in with their dancing.
We were sat in amongst the family and friends of the Canadian & Swedish teams and also amongst lots of colourful Japanese supporters. There were lots of kids with parents, school and youth groups; everyone excited to be a part of the Olympics. I took some better photos yesterday but this sums up what it should be about.
The organisation was great, the volunteers, police, much-maligned G4S staff, vendors and everyone else we came across were smiling and friendly. Fabulous.
The only downside was the the rows of empty seats. The remaining seats should be sold off at bargain basement prices so that those who can't afford to pay the full whack can share in the experience.
Newcastle at the weekend. España!
I should also mention that not once did any of the women players roll around on the ground feigning injury: they got up and got on with it. The overpaid primadonnas of men's football should take a leaf out of their book.
