The Spell Is Cast!
Point Whitehorn Marine Reserve, a Whatcom County park, has been on my must-visit list for a long time. There were some incentives for going today: there was a very low morning tide, and scientists and naturalists were present to explain the intertidal creatures and plants, and the geology of the area.
The geology expert was Dave Tucker, who has a Master's degree in geology, but as he explained in his introduction, he makes his living by cleaning gutters -- so Bellingham! He cleaned ours recently, before we had the windows done.
It was a beautiful day on the beach. The fresh breeze and sea air were invigorating. I saw many families with young children, and quite a few people of my generation. The allure of the beach is timeless.
