Bridge of Spies…...

…….a bit of local history for you, so pay attention class, there'll be a test at the end of the week;-)…...Rudolf Abel, born William August Fischer (later 'spy swapped' for Gary Powers in 1962 during the Cold War), used to live not a million miles away from me (though it was a bit before my time!)……understandably it probably scarred him for life, because living on the Whitley Bay/Cullercoats borderline does that to the best of us……

I've added the whole 1911 census sheet as an extra, along with a pic of his old childhood home (mind you, I suspect that front room window and the stained glass in the front door aren't 'original features' ;-))
