The view from the terrace
This is Rievaulx Abbey in North Yorkshire, viewed from Rievaulx Terrace.
Rievaulx Terrace is a grass-covered terrace overlooking the ruins of the former Cistercian abbey. At either end of the terrace stand two mid-18th century follies which are small Palladian "temples". At the south-east end of the terrace is the domed Doric or Tuscan Temple which is in today's extras. (as you can tell, the novelty of having a wide angle lens has yet to wear off!)
Also in today's extras is a wire sculpture by artist Emma Stothard of a horse looking towards the abbey.
What a difference a bit of sunshine makes!
