Inner City Beauty
Today we fancied a bit of walk, but couldn't think where to go. We pondered a canal walk near Sandbach, but in the end decided to do something a bit different and chose a canal walk in Manchester City Center. (Thanks Google!!) Its a different kind of walk we are used to, but it was fascinating. You certainly see the city in a different light. Some parts were absolutely grotty, however most of it was rather beaufitul. I loved the clashes of old industrial buildings with modern high rise office blocks, gorgeous refurbished pubs with beer gardens overlooking the canal etc.
We came off the towpath near Canal Street, where we found a nice spot in the sunshine and had a light lunch, with suitable (alcoholic) refreshments. I love people watching and Canal Street is a great place to do it! There was a real holiday feel, but eventually we had to drag ourselves away to carry on on our walk.
Lovely day, in a lovely city and nice to be able to explore it without rushing around the shops! (Did I really just say that...?!? don't worry Manchester shops... I will be back, but I may leave the camera behind!)
