Endless Weekend

Busy day in Edinburgh

Our last day here and the tour we did today was described as "strenuous" walking. I'd say it felt like we were using a Stairmaster since 8:45 this morning, but it was our choice. We walked around town seeing the sites, then went up to Edinburgh Castle, after a short visit to the National Museum of Scotland. The castle is high up on one of the seven hills that Edinburgh is built on. The tour broke around 1:00, and we continued to see more of the castle, then walked back to the National Portrait Gallery. I was expecting a section for contemporary work, but there were just a few in the cafeteria, including Alan Cummings, Muriel Spark, and Ian Rankin that were good. Back to our room by around 4 and my feet are throbbing! But that's what it's all about. On to the Highlands tomorrow, sleeping in Kenmore.
