Capturing my Journey

Clipping

Today Husband clipped the tups (rams) on the farm where we manage the livestock. Thankfully it was a bit cooler. That was until we went to gather in the wedders (castrated male sheep) in from their field. They were a bit wild after having an easy winter on the good ground to fatten them. They turned beautifully into the fank than sailed over the wall and out into the very large hill park on the other side. Much running and shouting dogs to get them stopped with one taking a great leap over the fence into the field below. Breagh did a wonderful job with her canny power and got the main mob under control and into the fank. Then off to get the show jumper. Got him back in then tried to get them into the shed where yet another one thought they were in for the badminton horse trials and leapt the fence then proceeded to leap into another area before we got him contained and back with the others. So there was some fence reinforcing and 4 hungry dog mouths on the outside to dissuade the show jumping and finally we got them into the shed to be clipped. My goodness do I hate hebridean sheep!! They were wriggly monsters to clip and we were glad when it was over with. My only concern is wrangling them again in two weeks’ time for their final journey to the abattoir.

After we went down to the beach there and husband had a swim in the sea with the dogs. I hadn’t got enough of a sweat on to be persuaded to go in.

17c sea harr early until it burnt off hot and sunny with a 6mph NW helping to cool it down a bit.
