From the dark corner.....

Yus, M'Lady

I did something I hadn't done forages and wandered down to the end of the garden. I hadn't been down there for years, mainly because it's very dark with a couple of large apple trees at that end. The sun seldom breaks through and it gets very boggy, especially with all the rain we've had lately.

Dad bought me Jeeves - I think that's his name even though I prefer Parker - about 12 years ago and had the bright idea of sticking him next to the bench under the trees where I would often sit with my book, Jeeves holding my glass on his little wooden tray which fell off long ago.

It's quite sad in some ways the way time marches on. This forgotten part of the garden, overgrown and unloved with poor neglected Parker and his bench, covered with moss and speckled with bird shit shows that. After stumbling around on fallen apples and getting a few nips from little insects, I ran out of the gloom to the safety and warm glow of the house.

'Parker?'
'Yus, M'Lady?'
'Please pour me a glass of red and play some appropriate music.'
'Yus, M'Lady.'

Comfortably Numb
