Yellow Lady Slippers

These delightful orchids grow wild and are an endangered
plant in the US.  Along with other members of the Northeast
Orchid Society I helped rescue these off the roadbed where a
four lane highway was being developed.  We planted the
rescued plants and transplanted many at the local
botanical garden.  The rest were distributed among the
rescuers.  My share reside in peace in a corner of my
back garden. The are safe now and lovely to look at.
