The Scottish Riviera

The replanting in Station Square, Oban, has been completed - you can see the first stage of the process in weeflecky's Blip from a couple of days ago - here.

I was told this morning that the nearby shopkeepers were glad to see the native trees go as they were fed up with sweeping leaves out of their doorways! Tragedy! A couple of small rowans which drop their little leaves once a year - such a huge job!

Anyway that chore will now be over. This row of three Cordyline australis, the so-called New Zealand cabbage palms, will change the face of Oban. Visitors will imagine as they step off the train that they've been accidentally re-routed to Cannes or even further afield!
