Day 17: Saulieu - Buxy

We were not meant to be in Buxy. The original plan was for Châlons-sur-Saône but we realised at lunchtime that it would be much better to go straight towards Cluny and avoid towns as much as possible. So we looked at the map and Buxy was conveniently situated What a great surprise it turned out to be! A charming medieval town with a lovely church, which we managed to visit thanks to the owner of the place where we're staying. She gave us a quick tour of the town and has a key for the church! The hotel itself is a XVIII century house full of old objects - she also owns an antique shop!
Today's ride was very easy, 97 km, still but with a lot of descent and in beautiful countryside - rolling hills, vignards and beautiful churches. We passed several châteaux but could not really see them properly. Lunch was in Nolay à charming medieval town. It is clear that the region's history is very rich!
