Quiet time

It was unusually quiet in Romsey town centre this afternoon, and parking was easy.
Though I often leave it until after 4pm before I go into town because parking charges in public car parks throughout the Test Valley district end at that time.
But walking through the centre today was a pleasure, and shops seemed to reflect what you saw on the streets. I had initially considered going into nearby Southampton today, but then I heard traffic reports of delays on the motorway affecting the route I would take, and I am sure that my change of plan has paid off.
I would take the bus, but I still have in mind the day that I did do just that, and had the parting shot from the driver as I left the bus  . . .”You know there isn’t a bus back!”

It turned out the bus I had intended returning on was geared to a school service, and it was half term — so no bus, short of taking a complicated alternative route.
