Carnival Time

It was carnival time today in the Hampshire town of Totton and Eling and it is as popular as ever.
Certainly there were plenty of onlookers lining the 2.7 mile procession route and a good many were there well before the start time. The route from an industrial estate on the northern outskirts of the town to a recreation ground to the south took participants on the seemingly never ending parade of floats and marching bands through the town centre where  motorists and drivers suddenly found themselves ushered onto diversionary roads.

Theme set by the organisers was to show off the town partying with floats portraying disco, rock,  picnics and BBQs — all providing a sense of fun, and the object to raise funds for the charities Youth Matters and Age UK in the New Forest.
