The Threepenny Opera

Half time at the National Theatre. What a beautiful piece of architecture (IMHO). Its controversial and a lot of people hate it. But on an evening like this the towers make up a terrific shape. You've got to admit.

As for the play, it was a brilliant production. Although the story is rather gruelling and dark and nihilistic. I kind of loved it but at the same time was repelled. I think this is probably what Brecht and Kurt Wiell would have wanted.

The South Bank was buzzing. The woman staffing the food stand exchanging full and frank opinions with her chum seem oblivious of all the milling around in front of them (extra).
