Besides The Paths

The day started with a thunderstorm. As predicted. But the temperature stayed high. An average of 26°C till late in the afternoon.

Laon is built on a hill. That is the nowadays called Old City. But there are also houses built on the slopes of the hill. And except the roads which lead to the city ports (Soissons, Ardon, f.e.) there are different paths for pedestrians to reach the upper city.

On different places you can find old and left houses which are standing there and waste away over the years. During a walk along such a path (calf training ;)) called 'Sente de Valezys' I found the rests of such a house in a desolate state.

I was attracted by the colors of the the evening sun and made some pictures of the building in the city's underbelly. A passing woman was so kind to give this desolate scene a bit of human liveliness ... ;)
