Day 19: Chatillon-sur-Challarone to Vienne

Penultimate day and the best thing about it was probably breakfast - hence the photo.. We left in the rain and arrived in the rain. To be fair, there were a few dry spells, notably at lunchtime where we found a nice bar and had a proper french lunch, and there were a few redeeming features to the day. The first third would have been pretty in the sun... but most of the time, it was a case of getting on with it.
Navigation was particularly tricky, since we were trying to avoid Lyon, we were going against the grain with most roads going to Lyon... The last 20 km were grim, it was pouring with rain, lorries were going past at speed, cars were beeping (what's wrong with French drivers?) And we either had to slog uphill or going downhill with breaks on (because of traffic and lack of visibility.
To cap it all, all the hotels in Vienne were full because of the football, so we had to pay an extortionate price for a small stuffy room in Hotel Ibis.
Still, we made it, and it's all part of the experience.
