Driving Miss Aya #3
So delightful to see her master the dashboard controls of things to push and pull and press to get the flashing lights and bell noises and oh how quickly she understood how to move the whole thing - albeit mostly backwards at first. We rolled my carpet back and watched. Three point turns accomplished before bedtime, parallel parking not quite mastered yet. Oh Aya, your "Aunty Biddies" Merril and Robin loved to see how much you enjoyed your gift from us. Not a great photo of you, (Robin's is better) but one of the few that was actually in focus and sans grownup knees and feet ... of course we snapped an album's worth once again. After all, there are but three days until you go to Japan for two weeks and then move to Germany.
School was hot. Outside was hotter. Inside my flat was hottest. (still 30ºC in my lounge @ 22.00).
My music students had their final performance exam in the morning. My youngest Art kids had their last lesson this afternoon. I am now completely finished with teaching, marking and yet we still have a week of 'stuff ' to get through before I can escape to Akbuk for 5-6 days before returning to Istanbul for the Senior's graduation ceremony - and then, finally, freedom.
Oh almost forgot. Very nice late afternoon - early evening garden party hosted by neighbour-friend-colleague - a gathering to say 'cheerio' to some of those friends we are losing and 'well done' to all of us for making it through.
