Raising the bascules of Tower Bridge

Today my friend and l decided to go down to Tower bridge, both to see the bascules bring raised to let an old Thames barge go through and also to visit the 'Tower Bridge experience' which involves going to the top of one of the towers and then walking along the enclosed bridge at the very top.  A section of the enclosed bit has had a glass floor installed and so you can look  down at all the traffic passing 40 metres below which seriously made my feet tingle.  This is a great thing to do, the scenery from the top is staggering and the machine rooms holding all the Victorian pistons, hydraulics etc is pretty interesting too.

After lunch we went to the Sky Garden in Fenchurch street.  This folks, next time you are in London, is free - book a ticket on line and present it at the named Walkie Talkie building and you will be whisked up 34 floors to yet more amazing views of London and the Thames - plus lovely gardens to stroll through.
