Our postal voting papers finally arrived at the post office this morning. Because we were not both present at the post office they needed to be taken home to be filled in and then posted. The post office is open for only about 90 minutes three days a week so not enough time to perform the complete cycle. I checked with George the postmaster if I could drop the forms off at his house for him to post at the other post office which is open on Thursdays. He agreed. Post usually takes seven days to reach its UK destination from here so we are in with a chance that our votes will arrive in time to be counted.
The island has several beaches accessible only by boat so the afternoon's mission was to take our current guests to one of these. On our way to the harbour we dropped our forms off at George's house. Our preferred beach has a steep rock face through which grows a tree providing some very desirable dappled shade. I have no idea how this tree has managed to grow here nor where it finds nutrients to sustain it but it appears to be really quite determined to remain.
Lying flat on my back looking straight up with my head pointing out to sea and my feet pointing at the rock face, here we have a vertical rock face and a horizontal tree.
