THE STUMP

We drove to Gibraltar Point after a substantial breakfast. We set off on our walk through the marshes towards the beach. We walked through the dunes and then on to the lagoons and pond, stopping in the bird hides as we came to them. We had good views of Caspian Terns which were rare visitors to this site. We also had excellent views of a male cuckoo which sat and preened itself in a tree close to a hide. When we returned to the Centre we had a very late lunch sat on the balcony overlooking the marshes and were treated to a Barn owl, hunting.

I have no pictures of our day as I left my camera in the car. This is a picture of St. Botolph's Church, known locally as The Stump. It is the tallest parish church tower in England, 272 feet (82.9m) Taken through the car window, on the journey back.
