At Whisper Cove

Cloudy start to the day. Tide right out. Cold wind off the bay. Even the birds were staying away. Some of the dog walkers were out and about; fewer than usual at this sort of time on a Saturday. Perhaps they'd all supported the Crusaders in the semifinal last night and were sad.

At the northern end of the long sweep of Snells Beach, a farmer has subdivided his land, and called the area into the headland, Whisper Cove. An expensive terrace house type of development has occurred there. Architect daughter far from impressed. Grossly overpriced, even when they were being sold off at "bargain rates", because they weren't all selling at the full cost.

Anyway; at Whisper Cove this morning I saw the putangitangi pair, with a thrid putangitangi with them, a little smaller. Another female. As I approached, the squawking began, and the movement. Soon, the heroic male scarpered. I managed a reasonable panning attempt, but he was a fair distance away for the small zoom on the compact. Then the bigger female also went. So, if this was their young, they abandoned her to the depredations of a camera wielding runner in winter garb.

Interesting as all that was, I decided this was a better quality photograph.
