Where were you when the Olympics started!

Olympic Friday arrived and I woke early and bagged a gold medal for varnishing the stair rail for 49, two coats by 6.30am! Exciting day today with the opening ceremony of the Olympics and us flying out to isle of man to see bro!

Lots to do at work first though and another beautiful day too.

Left work and got picked up at 3, set off to birmingham airport hopefully arriving in plenty of time for our 6.30pm flight. However, flying with Fly Maybe, meant we were delayed 3 hours!!! Very annoying when we are only going for 2 nights.

Got to Douglas and bro was there to meet us. Arrived at his fantastic home, with awesome sea views, albeit dark so couldn't see much, only ships lights in the distance.

We all settled down to watch the Olympic ceremony, which he'd sky+d. How fantastic and how proud to be British!! The best show on earth! And the showpiece had to be HRH and 007 in the Happy & Glorious film!! Truly amazing! The lighting of the flame too, left me proud and watery eyed!

That done and having witnessed the greatest show on earth, I then had the delight of seeing mum, after several whiskies, try to walk in a straight line and negotiate doors to reach the bottom of the stairs! Never seen anything like it! Absolutely fabulous!

After we had put her to bed, bro and me watched the rest of the ceremony, and then checked out the clear sky outside, stars shining like diamonds in the sky. Top night!!
