I think this is probably my best bee shot - ever!

I'm gradually whittling my 85 macro images down to five or six (most of them were not sharp anyway), but I always like to keep a few to try and identify the different bees that I see.  This (I think) is a Common Carder bee, there were a few of them around on this lavender but this one is `the star'  - it's got to be my best `bee portrait' ever.  I could have gone for the Flower Friday image of - three, but really there was no competition and the bee has won the top spot, hands-down!  I've added my Astrantia photo as an extra.
