The Palace of Holyrioodhouse

Next week the Queen will host the Annual Garden Party on this grass during "Scottish Week".   This is the traditional last engagement before spending the rest of the summer on holiday at Balmoral.

Normally, she comes out of a first storey french window, and descends by the stone staircase at the far back of the picture to join the party.    It looks to me as if the plan this year is to use the ground floor window with the very shallow steps.     Which seems a reasonable compromise for a nonagenarian.   Remarkable achievement really.
