Father's Day , apparently goes back 4000 years when Elmasa carved a Father's Day message in a card made of clay to wish his Babylonian father good health? There is no record of what happened to them?
More resent in Washington YMCA In Spokane celebrated Father's Day on 19.6.1910 when Sonora Smart Dodd ( born in Arkansas ) thought her father who was a civil war veteran ( William Jackson smart ) and being a single parent raised his 6 children alone in Spokane ( Sonora was 16 yrs old when her mother died in child birth .) In 1909 she heard a sermon for Mother's Day and felt she wanted her father and others to be recognised too. Since then it has been celebrated all over the world, tho' on different dates?
The Prayer plant I've blipped is the original one KJD gave her father in June 1990 when he was seriously ill. We have split it many times and quite a few people have a plant! I thought this was an apt blip for today.
I've been out painting again , close inspection definitely NOT advisable!!! But at least it looks a little tidier now!

Guide them to be good role models & loving to all their children.
Help them to be a father like you are .
Give them grace & patience to handle situations in a loving way.

Let us praise those men who have no children, but cherish the next generation.
Let us praise those fathers who have died, but live on in our memory & who's love continues to nurture us.
