Get Playing
When I was a lad my piano teacher told my mother that I was wasting her money and his time. In a final bid to master the instrument my poor father was despatched to the best room where the piano resided to listen to me play every evening after supper. Alas even this was in vain. I used to think that he had fallen asleep but as soon as I hit a bum note, which was often, he would call out "Start again". Depsite his efforts I soon gave up and I haven't tried to learn a new piece of music in almost 50 years.
That is until this afternoon when, inspired by the BBC's Get Playing , I printed off the sheet music to the Toreador Song - Beginners Level. The idea is to become part of the virtual orchestra by videoing yourself playing this piece which the BBC through the magic of technology will weave together. The finished article will then be screened at Proms in the Parks across the country.
Anyone care to join me?
I was pleased with my bell ringing this morning. I am sure that if I can master ringing bells the keyboard should not be beyond me.
