Vivid impressions
I spend hours trying to rid the hedgerow near the side of my place of invasive fast creeping ivy. Once it gets a hold there seems to be no stopping it, even spreading across the verges to the road.
And then I come upon a display of cultivated variegated ivy like this! The visual effect is immediate. It makes a vivid impact on the appearance of any garden and provides a vibrant uplift to everything around.
While I rue the creeping ivy in the hedgerow, trying to take over the fences and the trunk of the oak trees at the extremities of the hedge, I cannot help but admire the influence that a variegated ivy shrub has on the overall appearance of any garden.
I came across this magnificent specimen while taking and exercise walk today, but to be fair I have three of these in my garden as well. But perhaps not quite so spectacular perhaps, and the shades of the leaves vary so much!
If only the creeping variety were not quite so invasive, I might even respect that. But perhaps not!
