Puddles at Polesden

Rain was forecast for the whole day today but sister J and I took a chance and went to nearby Polesden Lacey. We scuttled into the shop and I bought three lovely greeting cards. We then each had a bowl of soup in the cafe by which time, against all forecasts, the sun came out and we were able to take a walk in the gardens, dodging the puddles as we went. The roses are out and smelling incredible, and the long herbaceous borders are beginning to come into flower. Before we left we went back to the cafe for a pot of tea and coffee and walnut cake. A good visit.
