Knifofia bud

This is a red hot poker flower bud (only I think it might be an orange variety). This variety flowers in winter and in previous years has been frosted just when coming out in flower. I saw some growing on a property in Orange where the days are colder but nights not as frosty as here in the valley. It looked magnificent in the winter gloom. This one is in a pot near the house so I am hoping it is more sheltered and does better.
