Southside
It was hot, glare-y, then windy with a but of a chill, but not enough to merit a jacket, then rain, but still hot, and somehow still glare-y. Got confused, gave up.
Headed down to the farmers' market to pick up some nice sausages etc, and also some (apparently) famous Borders tablet for our Japanese colleague who has yet to sample the delight (and incredible/unbelievable) sweetness of this very Scottish delicacy. He, and his wife, won't know what's hit them.
Quick nip down to Castle Street to grab a flat white at Castello Coffee, definitely impressed by the multitude of decent coffee establishments found in Edinburgh these days. L ordered tea - nothing out of the ordinary there, but it turned out to be tasty enough to for her to enquire as to who produced it. Pity(ish) I can't remember now, but if you're in the area it's worth a shot (and the tea they serve is written on their board outside).
Off to see the World Jazz Orchestra at the Jazz & Blues Festival this evening. A great compilation of players from all over the planet - particular highlights in the trombonist from New York; Austrian and Japanese saxophonists; and the American pianist. And wow, what a voice Cecile McLorin Salvant has - seek out her live show.
