Night spider

Continuing being inspired by a colleague's website My Tiny Garden - stunning stuff. Was talking to him about it earlier in the week and discovered that he uses the Canon 1-5x super macro lens which sounds fiendishly difficult to use.

This little chap was between the leaves on one of my buddleia bushes and quite settled on his web. With the light failing a couple of flash guns were needed which gave even more of a night-time feel. I'd hoped for a face-on shot but he wasn't being that willing a model - maybe another evening. If you look large you can make out one of the eyes.
