At Last!
I have been tending and watching 3 Oriental Poppy plants for weeks hoping they would produce a bud and then when they did, waiting for them to open. A few times to my alarm the pots they were in dried out and the long stems were drooping dramatically to the ground - copious watering thankfully revived them! The first to open was Brilliant - only it wasn't! The red petals were not fully formed and were a fraction of the size they were supposed to be. Today Royal Wedding opened and oh my! I literally watched the full petals open out to reveal this beautiful center! The dark splashes on the petals look like a painters big paint stroke and the colours are vibrant. Tomorrow I'm hoping the Princess Victoria Louise opens to similar pale pink glory!
So apart from taking photos of the poppy and processing them I read, ate calcium rich foods and blip browsed! Tilly and Polly kept me company and I had to giggle when I realised that I need to supplement my calcium levels as I do for them! Luckily unlike them not with crushed egg shells sprinkled on my food and fortunately my egg producing days are long gone!!
