A time for everything

Book fountain

Saturday
We started the day by watching the later stages of the cycling road race - such a disappointment for Team GB. Then we went out to do our own cycling. Today's temperatures were quite a bit lower and the morning was overcast, so it felt refreshingly cool when we started out on the Little Miami trail. For a change, we started in Loveland and headed south to Milford - we don't often do this stretch as it has more road crossings than further north. We did 18 miles return - the furthest I've managed so far this year. The sun was beginning to break through the clouds on the return stretch and it was warming up. Back home for lunch and a bit more Olympics viewing, before heading downtown to find some more Art for all installations. The first couple we couldn't find, but we eventually found three more - at the Art Academy, Sawyer Point and Lytle Park. We also came across numerous decorated pigs. For today's blip I chose the book fountain by the main Cincinnati and Hamilton County Public Library downtown. Its formal title is the Amelia Valerio Weinberg Memorial Fountain. It was conceived and executed by former Cincinnati sculptor Michael Frasca, and made possible by a bequest from Mrs. Weinberg and was dedicated in 1990. The sculpture features water cascading over a stack of ceramic tile books, representing the free flow of information and ideas through the printed word. This evening we went out to a Mediterranean restaurant, before settling back in front of the TV!
