Green Woodpecker
We don't often get Green Woodpeckers in our garden. Sometimes we see them at a distance but they are not normally on the lawn like this. We get lots of Great Spotted Woodpeckers on the feeders, so much so that sometimes they are almost a nuisance as they stop the smaller birds from feeding. This chap was there for ages, and made quite a hole in the lawn where he was digging for worms.
By the way, we haven't got ancient fossils in our garden (unless you count C and me!). The "fossil" you can see is a stepping stone to get to some of the feeders.
Thank you everyone for your kind words yesterday. I feel much improved today after going to bed just gone 8:30 last night.
