Fairy Houses
It's that time of year again, the town's big celebration, Hanover Day. I happily organize and run the Fairy House activity with another Hanover Garden Club member every year. It was a huge success again this year with a great Fairy Village springing up on the lawn between the Stetson House Historical Museum and the John Curtis Free Library. We had double the number of children this year who wanted to construct a little house from the collected natural materials we provide. I had 50 paper cut out fairies ready and waiting, looking for homes. Surprisingly this year, we ran out about 30 minutes before the end of the activity. I'm quite sure the woodland fairies will find the available, unoccupied houses by nightfall.
It was the perfect uplift, to be surrounded by laughing, creative little ones after the huge loss the Hanover Garden Club suffered this week losing Joan. Her husband, Hal didn't do his usual wood craft demonstration, but he volunteered at the Open Space Committee's table and then hung out with us at the Historical Society barn where the woodcarving and basket weaving demonstrations are done, next to the Fairy House construction spot. He had a red fox sniffing around his compost pile this morning, I'm so glad he felt able to be out with friends and chatting.
For the Record,
This day came in picture perfect, a gorgeous day for Hanover Day activities.
All hands healing
