Poplar Hawk-moth

I think that's what it is .... please advise me if that is not correct.

I was meeting a friend at the Stirling Services this afternoon.  I was collecting her dog who is staying with me for three weeks.  While I was waiting I started chatting to a local chap who was sweeping up litter.  I met him again later on and he showed me the moth which had very firmly attached itself to his rubber gloves.  I asked the guy to stay put while I ran to fetch my camera ... I think he thought I was nuts!  The moth was then carefully placed among the shrubs.
