Cape Town
Woke up to blue skies and sunshine so grabbed the opportunity of some decent weather to drive back to Cape Town to take the Cableway up to the top of Table Mountain. We just couldn't visit Cape town and not go up to enjoy the view.
Arrived early to miss the queues, parked the four wheel drive in a spot reserved for tour guides - a R20 secured that - and we were on our way on the revolving-floored Cableway to 1067m above sea level.
Enjoyed about ten minutes of bright skies and clear views before the ever-present rain clouds drew in and the omnipresent rain started. However, we did manage to see some cute Rock Dassies mooching about for tit bits. Strangely enough, these wee rodents are the African elephant's closest living relative, in spite of the difference in size.
Twirled back down on the Cableway to the four wheel drive, had a bit of a spat about who was driving, and then off to Stellenbosch for lunch. I ordered a Brie salad - which arrrived sans Brie, but let's not get too picky - and then had a wander round. An affluent and very pretty town but not as attractive as Franschhoek, in my opinion.
Back to the cottage for carry-out pizzas, a few beers and a game of Scrabble.
