A bit of a journey
1. We're off to the seaside straight after work. We stock up at Waitrose and get a brilliant dinner and a very clinky bag to keep it company. We sit to eat at the table and I realise I'm about to go on a journey. All the way along I've been in two minds about the opening ceremony. About quarter to though I start to get a bit excited. I'm looking forward to it.
2. So we switch it on and there's some horrific scenes of extras acting on a mound where some muppets in checked shirts are singing some accoustic songs. So it starts with a cringe and some cava.
3. Then I start to like it, it's weird and baffling and we're on the edge of our seat, baffled by Branagh as Brunel but a bit worried about the extras still mugging it but aye, this is ok.
4. Then I start to love it, I LOVE the NHS bit, it makes me clap and then I cry a bit and laugh, and wolf whistle and clap and laugh a bit more.
5. Then I realise just how fabulous this really is and I feel proud and emotional and baffled and entertained and surprised and delighted. That's before the athletes come out.
