Life with The Pinks

Oh my goodness what a day. A fabulous day, and some great memories made. We've come to London for the first day of our Olympic weekend. We picnic'd below the Gherkin, and walked through the city posing with various Wenlocks and Mandevilles for photos. We walked as far as tower bridge and the Tower, for more photo opportunities and then boarded one of the boats for a trip along the thames. The highlight for Master Pink was seeing the London eye, the Big Ben and a pirate ship from the boat. We alighted at Westminster so that the mini pinks could see Big Ben and the houses of parliament closer. There were some amazing buskers (or possibly a carefully placed brass band) nearby so we stopped to listen and dance to them. From there we walked towrds St James' park, and took in the sights of Buckingham Palace and checked out where the Horse Guards Parade venue is for tomorrow. The minipinks were (understandably) flagging by this point so we tried to get to a playground. The mall was all blocked off because of the men's cycling (which we caught about 2 seconds of!) so we found the nearest tube station and went to Kensington Gardens for Diana's memorial playground. The playground is amazing. If you've never been and you live near enough, it's a fantastic park. One of those "wish we'd got here earlier" places. Anyway we ate ice lollies, and played pirates, and crocodiles, and boats, and slides, and made music, and told a story, and just had lots of peter pan themed adventures. Exhausted we went to a restaurant near the bayswater tube, and then back to our "hotel" to crash out. Or so we thought. the minis had other ideas. And tomorrow is a 6am start!
