Pictorial blethers

Pleasing symmetry

Maybe they were just pleasing altogether. They're not really flowers on this fairly large tree; more like bracts. Because the tree was so large - and presumably so old - I couldn't find a name tag on it, but it's at the extreme edge of Benmore Gardens, to the left of the giant redwood walk. The delicate pink tinge at the edge of the white and the shape of each segment were delightful among the midges, which were pretty death-dealing on such a still, damp afternoon.

A healing walk, rain and midges notwithstanding, though the News continued to be disheartening the moment we were back in signal range.
