My boys

Spiderboy at breakfast, and an increasingly familiar sight....

So the small boys are asleep. One is snoring under a couple of cushions on the sofa, one is snoring on my lap. Tonight's late-evening barbecue got cut short due to a very sharp short rainshower, just as we were excitedly anticipating marshmallows - so they can wait for the next burn.

Charley has really got the hang of this crawling thing! It's taken him just under a week, just as with learning to sit up, and just as his learning about food. Fast learner, once he sets his mind to it! Last night after getting his nappy done I left him on his back and crawled myself over to my spot in the bed to see if he'd follow. And he almost did! He rolled over (he'd almost forgotten about the rolling over thing) and proceeded to push himself backwards off the bed. Ah well. This morning he crawled to the edge of the bed (yeah - him and edges again) and we started the teaching about how to get down safely (turn around, feet over first, legs down - there!) and after protesting that he wasn't being picked up, realised he was on the floor where there was Stuff to investigate. When I went to the bathroom there was a brief moment of silence as he investigated a suitcase then a (now very familiar and pretty cute) ba! ba! ba! ba! as he super-excitedly realised he could crawl to find me! However Ben plonked himself in front of Charley halfway down the corridor whereupon Charley, realising he could go no further, sat back, turned his head, and noticed - ooh! a cable!!

After he climbed and fell out of his washbowl bath on the shower floor the other day Charley was allowed to just sit on the floor this morning while I showered. Ben hogged the washbowl. Eventually Ben announced he was reading all by himself (as in, go away Charley) and got out of the washbowl and went and sat on a towel to read. Sensible.

Breakfast took ages, as usual, but even more so because Spiderboy was having trouble eating through his mask...

So we got to church in time to meet Steve at the end, saw beautiful baby Olive, caught up with a few people. Home for a slow afternoon although I was able to get a lot of craft stuff done, AND painted a wall orange!! Needs another coat, then I can get out the black sharpie :D hurrah!

Barbecue for tea although not as relaxing as the last one. Ben far too hyper. And of course Charley couldn't stay still! While Charley was finally chilling out in the wrap, Ben decided that his baby was crying too and needed wrapping up so Steve used one of his scarves to wrap Yoshi onto Ben, and Ben took him for a walk and came back saying his baby wasn't crying any more. That's not the first time Ben has talked about wrapping up one of his teddies, but it's the first time he's done it!
