Today's Special

By Connections

Sunday Morning, 9:30 a.m.

It's not what you think -- we weren't having beer for breakfast, or out early celebrating my 300th blip and all of the kind comments you made, for which I send my thanks.

We went to Elizabeth Station for tasty breakfast sandwiches (local BreadFarm roll, egg, sausage and cheese or bacon and cheese, delicious!) and their excellent coffee.

And yes, there was a beer-related reason, too -- we wanted to fill a growler (a large glass jug to take draft/draught beer home in) with Summer Gose. It's a delicious sour beer from Portland's Cascade Brewing, the brewery we frequented the most during our April week in that beer-lovers' city. We'd fallen in love with Summer Gose the evening before, when we'd stopped in at Elizabeth Station after doing errands.

In addition to offering local milk, bread, and a host of other items, Elizabeth Station offers a rotating selection of five beers on tap and literally hundreds of others in the 12 large coolers that line the store's back wall.

We like the simple decor and family-friendly atmosphere, with a variety of seating choices for those who want to stay for an ice cream cone, coffee or latte, light meals, wine -- and excellent beer, of course!

I have a feeling that we're going to find ourselves in that part of Bellingham more often than we used to be...

(For more information about that beer, and to see a unique "Mobile Man Cave," take a look at Phil's blip!)
