Rila Monastery

On our last full day in Bulgaria, we visited the beautiful Rila Monastery up in the Rila mountains.  The first two extras show some of the lovely frescos on the outside of the monastery church and another view of the monastery. 

I spotted the little butterfly further up in the mountains where we stopped for a picnic in a wildflower meadow.

The last two extras are of me with Simeon Stamboliski who used to dance in the Pirin Ensemble and whom I met back in 1991!  We actually recognised each other after all this time.  He now directs a children's dance ensemble called Pirinche.  The final extra is a rather blurry shot of the Pirin Ensmble in all their glory - they kindly put on a one hour, twenty minute show for us all!
