Breakey Blips

A little musical interlude

How magical. Finding this piano on the waterfront of Wellington, the oh so charming capital of New Zealand.

We walked quite a long way further around the bay, before returning close to this spot to buy some lunch. We sat on the sea wall, supping our soup, and enjoyed the gentle winter sunshine whilst listening to the music created by so many talented passers by.

Later on the evening, after feasting at the Wellington night markets, we watched folk dancing the tango in Cuba St and talked to the man running a pop up sauna back on the waterfront again.
Whilst talking, a lady with a tray of delicacies offered us one. They were left over from the VIP launch of the temporary skating rink.

I am trying to get my kids to see that travel isn't about luxury hotels and itineraries, but about hanging around, talking to interesting people and see what happens. In other words, being open to possibilities.

They have been through a lot in the past few months, and that simple thing of letting go, of being open, means sometimes taking small risks. Each one of us will be learning and recovering in our journey. I can see it already.
