Scot scouts on tour

The prospect of 21 days of travel makes us realise how all those meals and snacks add up to a lot of money.
We had discussed canoeing on a quite short and rather tame tour at $59 each. We decided to walk the same route and to use the savings to buy a small gas stove and a billy. Lunch was a delicious veggie and sausage thick soup/stew.

Only problem, we took a wrong turn and took the long and winding mountain bike route, instead of the sedate stroll. "Lunch" was at mid afternoon, and the prospect of arriving back at the starting point after it had got dark was enough to make us call for a taxi! That may have dented the savings, but we were still ahead.
