Stripes

For the #FlickrFriday theme.

In lieu of deckchairs or a gentleman's shirt I chose the obliging Cordyline by my back door for stripes. 

And those green-fingered among you mustn't worry, she's not suffering from some exotic disease, it's paint-splatters as my lovely decorators are washing their brushes outside so as not to dirty my still very new sink! 

Speaking of which...it's taken until today, it's taken many hours of telephone calls and e-mails and many more hours of frustration but Howdens finally they admitted that they owed me money instead of vice versa! 

Of course as everything has to go through my builder's name it's him that's been getting the aggro. He brought his books with him this morning and I got out all the delivery notes and copies of e-mails that I had went through them all together...I then rang the manager to try and get a home visit so that he could see what was actually here and that though they'd invoiced twice for a few things we hadn't got them! 

He wasn't in until Monday but I explained the whole nightmare again of measurements being wrong, cupboards not fitting and needing replacing, blah blah blah and I was told the Assistant Manager was with a customer but would call me back to discuss...yeah right we thought!

He did, and I quote: "I've been through it all with a fine toothed comb and I'm sorry it's taken this long but you're right it would seem that there is a refund due." Hurrah. By 4pm he'd called again to get the money put back on my card! 

I do like a happy ending :)
