to Tag Along

It is a long time since I saw anyone using a geological hammer in real life.

Today however was an exception.  Beach Buddies, the Manx volunteer beach cleaning organisation today announced that there would be a joint meeting at Castletown with a party of visiting geologists from the USA.  

We would pick up rubbish  and tag along with their lecturer and vice versa.

We had a wonderful morning and here you see the party standing on top of a lava flow with the Carboniferous Limestone in the background.

As a rough calculation it is 45 years since I last used a geological hammer....
