Overberg
Travelling into the Overberg district on our way to Swellendam, we passed beautiful countryside scenery, farms and a few small towns.
This is the main road along the southern tip of Africa that takes you to Cape Town, and ever present is the majestic Langeberg mountains.
The endangered species of the beautiful Blue Crane, is found in the Overberg district, and quite a few were spotted in the veld as we travelled past.
The Blue Crane is the national bird of South Africa.
Blue gum trees, not indigenous to the RSA, can be seen around the farm buildings. Sheep, ostrich and milk farms are prevalent, whilst amongst others, canola farms, when in season, provide beautiful yellow patches to contrast against the blue of the Langeberg mountains.
This peaceful scene was blipped at 120kph through glass window, but I could not resist the tranquility. Outside it was about 33 degrees ...... and the shadows tell that it was roundabout midday.
