What's this?

Does anyone know what this is please, it's not statice, nor is it a thistle or cornflower. Those Spikey bits are soft, not sharp and the flower is just under an inch across.
I'll put an extra which shows it as a bit more of a close up. It is growing outdoors in a garden on Iona.
